L-SEC: Security in e-Health - June 12th, 2003
L-SEC, the Leuven based e-Security cluster, organizes on June 12, 2003 Security in e-Health. This event will cover the most important security-related issues in healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations.
The Leuven Security Excellence Consortium intends to promote the Belgian region as an international centre of excellence within the e-security market and to ensure that its members stay at the forefront of innovation by stimulating and supporting knowledge exchange and collaboration. L-SEC organizes events and workshops for all organizations and companies active in e-security included technology providers, service and product providers and the end user market.
The purpose of the Security in e-Health event is to provide an overview of the legal, business and technical aspects. Within the legal framework we will compare the Belgian and European laws and directives with the US HIPAA act (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). The second part of the event will explore the relationship between the legal framework and the business environment. How can the legal recommendations be translated into usable and manageable guidelines in your business process? What is the impact on the operational activities and how can technology be an added in order to reach compliance? Answers to these and other questions will be provided via presentations and case studies presented by experts in Healthcare, Medical systems and security.
The healthcare and pharmaceutical sector are very sensitive to privacy and confidentiality issues, therefore the security aspect is a very important part of the daily business, says Jurgen Truyen, Managing Director of L-SEC, this event will provide insight into the legal aspects and their impact on organizational and company structure.
