LEUVEN MINDGATE

V.O. organizes IP Academy 2016

Basic course

The basic course is specifically intended for professionals who are involved in IP but are still lacking experience in this matter. The course deals with practical aspects of IP: what is actually protected by a patent, trademark or design? Participants learn the key notions, the dos and dont's of IP and how a specific IP right can be obtained, maintained or defended. How can one use databases to check whether the invention is actually novel? As a part of the course, an IP game will be played in which the newly acquired knowhow can be tested in practice.

Advanced course

The advanced course is intended for IP managers and officials responsible for their companies’ IP policy.
It addresses in particular the strategic significance of IP rights, and how those rights can be handled in the most effective way. How can your trademarks, for instance, improve the market position of your business? In addition, topics such as licensing, secrecy, collaboration, subsidies and fiscal aspects will be dealt with.
