LEUVEN MINDGATE

Researchers in Residence

The exchange of expertise between academic researchers, research institutions and companies of all sizes is the basis for many successful innovation projects. However, businesses do not always have the resources to set up large-scale, innovative projects with other research or commercial partners. On October 27, iMinds is organizing an information session for researchers and businesses (large companies, small & medium-sized companies and start-ups) regarding the opportunity to attract pre- and post-doctoral researchers to conduct specific, innovative business projects.

About the session

During the info session, iMinds will dive into several long-term programs (e.g. Baekeland, IWT Innovatiemandaat and Marie Sklodowska Curie) that are ideal for supporting projects with a degree of risk that is too high for the regular R&D channels. iMinds will also promote and stimulate new programs that are conducted during short periods of time and is valuable for executing individual research tasks within a company context.

In both cases, the commercial partner is expected to benefit from the research valorization, while the hands-on experience will also constitute important added value for the development of the researcher.

Target audience

This information session is open to:

  • Strategic managers working for technology companies – from start-ups to large-scale businesses
  • Senior researchers and research managers conducting digital research in the fields of ICT, Media, Health and Manufacturing

Session goals

This session aims to answer a few typical questions for both target groups.

For businesses:
How does my innovation process benefit from having academic researchers work within my company? What is the added value compared to traditional open innovation programs?

For researchers:
What are the funding opportunities for me if I want to take my career or research project to the next level by working at a company?
