Coping with Big Data

The course will provide an overview of the most recent and relevant techniques that facilitate the analysis of very large collections of data.  It will cover the foundational techniques for coping with big data sets such as sampling, hashing, approximation methods, and distributed computing as well as provide hands-on experience with them. The focus is on providing its attendees with sufficient expertise to choose an appropriate technique and execution platform for their data science problems. The course assumes programming experience and prior knowledge of basic terminology from data analysis.
