14th edition of the Benelux Venture Forum (BVF) on June 18th 2014 in Leuven


The BVF Forum is an initiative of Europe Unlimited NV and hosted and supported by Leuven.Inc, Capricorn Venture Partners, KU Leuven R&D, iMinds and with the support of Agentschap Ondernemen.

The Benelux Venture Forum (BVF) allows the most promising Life Sciences, Clean Technology and Information Technology entrepreneurs from the Benelux Region to meet and present themselves to active international investors and corporations seeking investment and partnerships. The Forum plays an active role in the European and Benelux innovation scene. It fosters start-ups and high-tech, high-growth entrepreneurship and it promotes Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands as innovative, attractive and rewarding countries to do business or to invest in.

The central theme of this year’s edition is ‘High-tech entrepreneurship in the Benelux' and will be illustrated by keynote speakers from private and public organizations. The programme will also include many industry panels and presentations.

The selected entrepreneurs in Life Sciences, Cleantech and ICT will have an audience of international venture capitalists, corporate investors and strategic partners.

The Benelux Venture Forum will take place on Wednesday 18 June, 2014, at the Provinciehuis Vlaams-Brabant in Leuven, Belgium.

Selection Process and Criteria for entrepreneurs

Entry criteria

  • A highly promising company from the sectors:
    - Mobile & Mobility, Cloud & Big Data, Financial Tech, Security & Privacy
    - Resource efficiency, Energy Storage & Infrastructure
    - Pharma & Industrial Biotech, Medtech and Digital Healthcare
  • An independent company with operational headquarters in Belgium, the Netherlands or Luxembourg
  •  Looking for investment and partnership opportunities in the next 18-24 months

Company Profiles of all applicants will be screened by Investor Jury. The selection process will be based on the following categories:

  • Business potential - The potential market of customers for the presented product is attractive and the business model is strong
  • Team experience - Company team has skills and experience to grow the business and is able/willing to work with industry & research
  • Product / Technology merit - Technology or product solutions developed are state-of-the-art and well advanced compared to the competitors
  • Competitive position - The intellectual property of the company and its competences and strategic relations are outstanding
  • Investment or partnering interest - The demand/offer to invest in or partner with the company is well defined and potentially attractive for partners
  • Project profile quality - Information available from company profile sheet is complete, clear, balanced and convincing
