On the 12th of february the CleanTech Challenge will officially start in Brussels. The event will take place in the new building of Vlerick Business School in Brussels near the Nord station. Our event starts around 19h15. During our kick-off event you will hear some keynotes from CleanTech specialists as I-CleanTech Flanders, young cleantech entrepreneurs will share their experience with you and last but not least you will receive the guidelines of participating in this years competition.

The CleanTech Challenge 2014 – Supporting your Fresh Idea

CleanTech Challenge is an innovative 3 stage competition for students hosted by the London Business School and University College London. Since the start in 2009, KU Leuven Research & Development has endorsed this competition and supported teams from the KU Leuven. In a collaboration with AFC and Vlerick, this has resulted in the establishment of a Belgian competition where the winner has a guaranteed place in the 3rd stage bootcamp finals in London. Help to build a better future through environmentally-friendly technology and win a €5,000 cash price.

Why?

We want to support young innovative students that can make a difference. We help you building a network of professionals that you can turn to when in need. The winner of the CleanTech Challenge gets a €5000 cash prize plus extra’s like consultancy, start-up training, … On top of that, the winning team gets a direct team ticket to the European finals in London (transport and lodging expenses covered). Who?

Target group: all entrepreneurial economic, science and engineering students (bio-, civil- and industrial), PhD’s and MBA’s. Open to all other students with a CleanTech idea.

What?

All ideas with a positive impact on the environment. Submit your idea on our platform (available directly after the Kick-Off event) before February 28th. If you don’t have an idea yet, come to our free Kick-Off Event and complete other teams. (People who already have an idea, should definitely come.)

What do we expect from you in the first round?

In the first round, all ideas are expected to be economically viable and technologically feasible. Your idea will also be evaluated on team strength. You are expected to present your idea in 20 slides where you present the strong points of your idea, why it is a surplus for the economy, how it will change the future and how your idea will develop in the future. Make sure you give enough attention to the financial aspects of your idea. You also need to write an executive summary of maximum 200 words that accompanies your presentation.

How?

Create a team of 2-5 persons. Make sure that your team is multidisciplinary being economic and technical/science knowledge.  To make it easy for you to find extra members we will host a free Kick-Off Event in Vlerick Business School Brussels for you where you can get in touch with other teams or promote your own. Submit your idea by answering via our idea-platform (link will be put here after the Kick-Off event)
