Organised by Leuven.Inc in cooperation with imec.
Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are seamless cylinders of one or more layers of graphene. The unique chemical structure of these nanotubes impart mechanical and electrical properties that are unlike any other engineering material. A massive worldwide research effort has led to the understanding of the physical properties of these materials, and to the development of efficient production processes. Industrial interest in these materials is rapidly increasing, and is reflected in the fact that the current worldwide production capacity of CNTs has reached thousands of tons per year.
This seminar will reflect on current and future commercial CNT applications ranging from battery electrodes, to automotive parts, sporting goods, and water filters, as well as on promising developments in the field of microelectronics.
