LEUVEN MINDGATE

Leuven.Inc Visionary seminar: The next mobile experience

Organised by Leuven.Inc in cooperation with imec

Smart Phones are common place today and tablets are quickly becoming equally abundant. What made these devices so successful in such a short time period? Was it the hardware, with the introduction of the touch screen, GPS, gyroscope and accelerometers? Or was the breakthrough caused by changes in user interface, like multi-touch support or speech recognition and even understanding? Or was the fast adoption triggered by the introduction of content and application stores, making your device a virtually unlimited music, photo, video, books, periodicals and applications library?

More importantly, which breakthroughs can be expected regarding hardware (e.g. holographic displays, 3D video capturing, electronic nose), user interfacing (e.g. gesture recognition, situation awareness), and service and content delivery (e.g. mobile payment)? How are these evolutions impacting business models and changing the value chain?

This seminar will address all these questions and many more. It will provide you with a clear understanding on why and how smart phones and tablets impacted economy as well as our lifes and will present a glimpse towards the next mobile experience.
