Option wireless module in Android powered design smartphone
Integration of wireless module completed in less than 3 months
LEUVEN, Belgium - October 25 2010 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that it has integrated its new ultrathin LGA (Land Grid Array) wireless module, the GTM601, in the just announced luxury design T1 smartphone from Scandinavian manufacturer Lumigon. Option's GTM601 solution was selected because it allowed for a seamless and fast integration of cutting-edge 3G technologies in the Android powered smartphone. Lumigon went from the selection of Option, through development, to a fully working device in just 3 months. This resulted in reduced project cost and risks for the manufacturer without compromising on their design.
Several elements made Option's embedded wireless solution a perfect fit. The GTM601 is the first combination of an ultra-thin form factor with an impressive feature set including worldwide 2G/3G coverage, high-speed data connection with HSPA+ speeds of 14.4Mbps in the downlink and 5.76Mbps in the uplink, highly sensitive GPS connectivity and PCM voice capability. The GTM601 also has both excellent heat dissipation characteristics and low power consumption, important for thin mobile devices. The seamless integration of the GTM601 into the Android framework further simplified the software development.
All these elements constitue a unique wireless solution based on the GTM601/609 series modules enabling Option to provide manufacturers of slim, touch-screen based and Android powered devices a high quality mobile broadband connectivity solution in just months.
