PieSync raises €1.5M to expand its app synchronization platform

PieSync, a Belgian start-up that developed a platform to synchronize contacts stored in different cloud applications, recently announced that it has raised 1.5 million Euro in a new funding round. The investment will allow the iMinds’ iStart graduate to expand the list of supported software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications and pursue further growth.

As companies are getting more comfortable using cloud applications to store and share data, app synchronization is increasingly becoming a concern. Contact information represents a particular and pressing issue. This type of information is continuously changing, making it very difficult to maintain it up-to-date, even though this is an essential part of businesses’ stakeholder management.

With that in mind, PieSync developed a solution that continuously and effortlessly syncs the information from different systems in a two-way process, with a focus on contact data. Their innovative product was recently granted 1.5 million Euro in a funding round from a series of investors led by Ark Angels Activator Fund and SOFI (PMV).

The company, founded in 2012 by Mattias Putman and Ewout Meyns, was one of the start-ups supported through iMinds' iStart incubation program.

“The support that we got from iMinds through the iStart program was essential during the early stages of our company. iMinds not only provided us with financial support; their coaching and the networking opportunities were also extremely important to steer our business in the right direction,” states Ewout Meyns, co-founder and CEO. “Even now, after graduating from the iStart program, we are still able to count on iMinds’ legal expertise to advise us during this funding round.”

iMinds' iStart call is now open. Submit your start-up proposal until 1 Feb 2016.
