Fifthplay takes 36% share in French market leader Dombox.

Fifthplay is taking a 36% share in the French company Dombox, and with this confirms the further expansion of its international strategy. In 2014, fifthplay had already entered into a strategic alliance with the Lyon company, which will now be continued and intensified. Fifthplay, together with Dombox, aims to connect some 25,000 new French homes to its energy platform by 2016. Dombox will also operate as fifthplay France from now on. With this partnership, fifthplay is further extending its activities internationally, and aims to become the European benchmark in energy efficiency and monitoring for buildings.

Dombox particularly focuses its solutions on building promoters and contractors, and has a 30% share of the new residential building market. The objective of the partnership with fifthplay is to hike up this market share to 50% in the short term. Fifthplay is providing its technology and expertise on the residential market for this purpose. In addition, fifthplay will also be providing Dombox with intensive support for its marketing policy.

The expectations of this partnership are high. With their collaboration, both companies aim to connect 25,000 new French homes to the Smart Home platform within a year and thus make inroads into the tertiary market in France. Fifthplay is taking a 36% holding for this purpose, which can be raised to 45% over a period of five years.

“Now that our complete portfolio is also being rolled out in France, we are widening our international activities further, in addition to Belgium, Holland and Spain. We eventually aim to become the European benchmark in energy efficiency and energy monitoring for buildings,” says Kris van Daele, Managing Director of fifthplay.
