Trends in Global Mobility - global assigments and relocation

The race for talent is all about finding the right people for the right place at the right time and with a demographic shift taking place unseen since the Middle Ages, it is perhaps no surprise that global mobility is one of the hottest topics of the decade.

It is no longer just the large multinationals that are seeing the benefits of global mobility, but small and medium sized companies are getting in on the act too. A recent study revealed that 75% of surveyed companies expect the number of global assignments to increase over the next 3 to 5 years and 80% of these companies felt that global mobility will become increasingly important to their business.

Markets are moving rapidly and companies expect their assignees to be able to hit the ground running. Moving to a new country is often fraught with stress and there are many things to take into consideration, not least work permits, accommodation and schools for the children to name but a few. But the cultural change always comes as a shock, no matter how
experienced the expat. So no matter whether you’re coming to Belgium or leaving for pastures new, take the time to get to know your new host country a little better, and of course your relocation agent will help you get settled. After all, you want to feel at home from the moment you arrive; not worry about what it means when the police come and visit your house*.
